【Sneak Peek】Kuroshitsuji II OVA - Ciel In Wonderland

Kuroshitsuji is one of my favourite manga. Its animated in the year of 2008 which I still prefer the manga alot then anime since the storyline was a bit different between them. Of course, as one of the protagonist, Sebastian Michaelis is one of the hottest, or the hottest of the hottest guy I am so in love with >////3///<. (just expressing my fangirl joy~~)

Now, back to this OVA of the second season, as I do mentioned before, Alice in Wonderland is my favourite story, and I love every version of work that derived from this storyline. Ciel in Wonderland is kind of weird somehow. Since OVA1 is the first part of the story then only continue onward on OVA4, when I was watching the first part I couldnt get the point of the story. Still, I fell in love with Alice Ciel immediately!! It was suppose to be the first character I want to do when I start my cosplay career =3=. Due to some this and that reasons, it was delayed until now, and I have my Alois with me ~~~~~(flowering) I was so happy about this, and thanks Molly alot for CP with me~~ Muacks >3<~~
One sneak peek of the short skit for these series~

【Sneak Peek】Vocaloid Hatsune Miku Fanart- Cheerful39 by Manbou no Ane

Vocaloid series although is not a anime series or manga, it is still the most wanted cosplay characters. Especially Hatsune Miku, for some reasons Miku seems to be the most popular characters that fancy people the most. Miku Fever started to boom out during these few months especially when Diva Project came out. Although I am not a huge Miku fan but I still like some of the versions. "World is mine" is one of the most, since I loved the song so much~~ =^^= Another Miku that strikes me would be this design "Cheerful39" by Manbou no Ane. I was so in love at first sight with her and it overwhelm against World is mine and I decide to do this instead... >//<

I personally prefer to sew costume myself than sending for tailor as it fits me the most and I can modify according to my own preferences. BUT!!! this time i would say this is TORTURING!!! TAT .. the ruff skirt almost killed me!!! I spent the whole day and night before the shoot to modify and refine the skirt ... in the end.. it still not stiffen enough to the extent of a platter tutu... OTL I had tried my best T^T

For the theme for this shoot "Hatsune Miku All Star Photoshooting"

【Trip】Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 2011

Reading is one of the habits that I have had since I was small, about 6 years old when my mum sent me to english tuition classes instead of kindergarten. The memory in that class was somehow scary (>o<) as my teacher was very fierce to us for what I remembered. However, when I actually flashback for a moment there, I would say, we deserved to be scolded. XD

One of the things I remembered the most is the spelling classes on the word "dress". I was asked to spell dress which I ended up giving "drass" instead. My teacher keep on repeating the phoenix of 'd' 'r' and 'ess' which I was not able to understand why we should be pronouncing 'ass' as 'ess'. I was punished to write 100 lines of 'dress' after that. One of the old memories that stuck with me till now. XD I am thankful to her however, as she is the inspiration that makes me interested in readings and I always loved her Chapatti and brownies she treated us after classes.

Back to Big Bad Wolf Book Sales, this year held in MAEPS. I would say its an event that all book lovers is compulsory to attend >/////<. There's all range of books with a very good price.

My personal genre would be around fictions to mangas. However, for manga, its hard to get complete series.I manage to find Saiyuki (the first series) total in 8 books in complete >///0///<. Saiyuki Reload although available but is not complete and Gunlock is not there at all.. T^T I am still happy somehow as Saiyuki's one of the favourites series I loved alot. Lament to the Lamb is another series that i longing for, and able to get it here thrilled me alot >3<. Also get myself ://Hack, fallen moon (bromance...>///<.) and Angel Dust. Aoi Nanase's drawing fancy me alot.

Fiction I got here would be Skulduggerry series.. except for the 1st book ( I just cant find it..QAQ). I read  Christopher Paolini's Eragon before and do hope that Brisingr is as good as that. Jeffrey Archer, one of the best story teller >3<. Cecilia Ahem's P/S I Love You made me cried at the beginning until the end, so I'll try this new work of hers. Mitch Albom, I do believe that anyone that actually start a page of his story will instantly fall in love with his work ^3^. Get some classics too, like Lewis Caroll, Alice in the Wonderland (for a moment there... although I knew the story for top to bottom,I never actually read the book....= =), Dracula( I forgot who's the author.....).  Down the Rabbit Hole struck me when I it comes to Alice's story ( personal I huge fan of Alice in Wonderland## I love all kinds of version***). Last would be a story from the world of Golden Compass. Golden Compass is a story beyond my imagination and if there's a chance, I'll get whole 3 books of that series *0*.

Went to The Pantry after massive blood loss... T^T... I kind of enjoy this kind of shop which I think its really suitable for photoshoot*** Looks very very very lovely especially with those bird cage** Aw<<<<<

Food is consider nice, and price is affordable. There's promotion on weekdays which the pasta is on buy 1 free 1 offers *0*. I forgot the name of the soup... but its ok. Taste like "luo song" soup from Wong Kok..
From all the pastas.. Bolognese still taste the best..

Soup.. which I forgot about the name...
My Cabonara Fettucine
Salmon Angel Hair
Chicken Bolognese
Seafood Calamari

Again... I would say... THIS IS SO SUITABLE FOR PHOTOSHOOT >/////////////////<

【Props Making Tutorial】 Togainu no Chi Akira's knife

Props making is one of the most important lesson to master for Cosplay. Often for me, it's really important as I often decide to do characters last minute.....  To make sure that its possible to keep up with my pace of ideas, DIY on the props became main things to be finish up before events or shooting.

After the two studio event, alot of people ask where I get that knife... and I would say it's made out of newspapers and cardboards... seriously.

Here's the tutorial. The thing that makes newspaper a better choice for other materials is that its easy to get and its recyclable items. I am sure that there's old newspaper in everyone's house! Besides, its easy to handle especially in emergency situation. The process needs just a few hours, hence easy and swift. Recommended for last minute preparation.

Now here's the materials:
Newspaper (tear into small strips)
Thin cardboard ( I use empty tissue box and tissue roll)
Thick cardboard (boxes)
Masking tape
Soft polyfoam (optional)
Thick String
Acrylic paint (can get from popular around RM8 per stick)
-black
-white
-burnt umber (brown)
-ultramarine (dark blue)
Gold paint
Pearl Silver paint
Hot glue
UHU glue

Of course tools like scissors, blade, ruler, pen is required too.

First step, draw out the shape of the knife on tissue box cardboard, make two pieces to cover both front and back and cut it out.

Align two piece together and stick them together using masking tape.

Make sure the sides are covered nicely as you do not wish to get holes when sealing them. Leaved the opening on top unsealed for stuff.
 Sides should be covered nicely...
Next, stuff in newspaper to shape out the thickness of the knife and make it rigid. Leave the body of the knife aside first.

Next is on the shank of the knife. I use the inner cardboard of tissue roll. Cut two circle around 1cm height and joint them together using masking tape.

It should look something like this. Draw and cut out two oval shape, base on the shape of the shank u wanted it to be, on the thick cardboard.
Measure the handle part, around 0.7x3cm (this depends on your own measurement) Things to be caution is to make sure that the hole is sited in the middle part of the oval shape.

So you'll have something like this after all the basic preparation. Body of the knife, white polyfoam for handle and shape of the handle, two oval cardboard, one ring cardboard.

Next thing is the assembly of the knife. stuff in the oval shape into the ring, glue with plenty of hot glue. Put in the handle polyfoam  (this can be replace using newspaper handle as well. Make a long rectangular handle and stick with a lot of masking tape) Notice here I actually leave a little bit of the polyfoam (around 2cm) at the bottom of the handle for easy joining of the handle with the body later.

Cover the other oval cardboard on and glue with plenty of hot glue. Make sure that the glue lie evenly on the cardboard. You can do this by melting the protruding glue using the tip of the glue gun and smeared evenly on the cardboard. (P/S: there's still some part of the handle left at the bottom.. although its hard to see in this pic)

Shape out the shape of the handle using newspaper and masking tape.

Lastly would be joining of the knife's body with the handle. Glue with plenty of hot glue and UHU glue to make sure that it fits nicely in. The basic shape is done.

Now is the masking part! Prepare a bowl of glue (2parts of water, 1part of white glue), mix well and ready for use.

Make sure that your strips of newspaper is tear into small pieces and ready for use.

Paste the strips of newspaper with the glue. This is a very important step. It decides if the smoothness of the surface of your knife. Important things to be notice here is , you should make sure that the newspaper is soak wet thoroughly and smooth on the surface without bubbles or folds. Place on layer by layer, withouth overlaying too much as to make sure that the thickness of the surface is even.

Cover the whole knife (except the handle) with 2-3 layers of newspaper. Should overlay newspaper on the intersection of the knife body and the shank, so that the intersection would not look too obvious. The shank part should use really small pieces of newspaper, so it would look smoother.

After covering everthing with newspaper, it should looks something like this. A tips to make the surface more harden: Paint another layer of  thicker white glue ( add somemore white glue into the glue mixture to thicken it) on all the surface of the knife. Let it air dry for a few hours.

For the handle part, I wrap with two layers of newspaper and coil strings on it with UHU glue (preferable lighter color, will be painted later on).

Overall, the knife is considered done! What left here now is the finishing.

Paint the knife using acrylic color.
Body of the knife : pearl silver + a little bit white and black.
Shank: Burnt umber + ultramarine ( to darken the brown) and later on finish with thin layer of gold paint for    the shiny surface.

Something to mention here would be the texture of the newspaper base. Sometimes there will be some bubbles trap between the newspaper and cause the surface to look uneven. Thus, to fix this, use the glue mixture just now as solvent for the acrylic. Smoothly rub the color on the surface to even it.

Lastly, the handle part would be burnt umber + ultramarine (more to look very dark brown). I leave this part the last as its more easier to handle when painting other parts. Don;t forget about the wording on the knife as well. Write in on using either sharp tips markers or ball pen.

And lastly TADAA~~~ your very own Akira's knife is done~~~ I wrap abit some details like the tips and side of the knife with pearl silver alone to refine the sharpness of the knife.

One of the best features of newspaper product is the lightness. Unlike woods or metals, its much more lighter and easy to handle, and of all, its CHEAP!!!! XD

01/021011 Two Studio Graduation Exhibition Event

, I was immersed in a thrilling condition past two days for the cosplay event in two studio graduation exhibition. It  can be considered as the first cosplay related event that was held in Penang mainland area. Two studio is a multimedia academy located in Bukit Mertajam and this event is actually the graduation exhibition for the artwork of their students. It's great that they manage to include cosplay event into this and one of the reason would be our Molly as a student there to make this happen.

A little comment on the Artwork exhibition:
I am not an art student myself. But as a layman here, I would say that the quality of the artwork deserved appreciation. A wide range of designs unique and creative which portrait out the character of each students well. Since each student is given a booth wall, hence it gives them an imaginative space to work with. I personally like Molly's *bling bling* wall alot XD. It's a well done for the show.

Day1 is quite deserted somehow. Cosplayer on site that day was lesser than expected and it seems that the organizer was not able to attend somehow. We were still able to enjoy ourselves somehow, although its hard to take good photos under that kind of condition. We tried our best :)
